چکیده

Results. After 10 minutes of ischemia, vitreal ERG band c-waves had recovered fully in 2 hours, and after 30 minutes of ischemia, recovered approximately 85% and 77% of their control amplitudes in 4 hours, respectively. At the early period of reperfusion after 10 minutes of ischemia we observed the supernormal c-wave (124% of its control amplitude, n = 10) with an elevated standing potential. The transepithelial potential (TEP) c-wave increased without changes of slow PHI and transepithelial resistance when the supernormal amplitudes occurred. The light-evoked [K]o decrease in the subretinal space (90% retinal depth) in the area centralis recovered to about 90% of the control amplitude in 2 hours, and after 30 minutes of ischemia recovered to about 70% of the control amplitudes in 4 hours. The recovery courses of the slow PHI and TEP c-wave were almost the same as that of the light-evoked [K]o decrease.

Double-barreled and Concentric Microelectrodes for Measurement of Extracellular Ion Signals in Brain Tissue.

Electrical activity in the brain is accompanied by significant ion fluxes across membranes, resulting in complex changes in the extracellular concentration of all major ions. As these ion shifts bear significant functional consequences, their quantitative determination is often required to understand the function and dysfunction of neural networks under physiological and pathophysiological cond...

The Electrochemical Detremination of Nitric Oxide in Seawater Media with Microelectrodes

The electrochemical determination of nitric oxide in seawater with microelectrodes is reported in this paper. Two electrodes, ISO-NOPMC microsensor and modified platinum microelectrode, are evaluated for their performance in seawater. The peak current is found to be linear with the NO concentration in the range 1×10-1.2×10 mol/l for both microelectrodes. The detection limit of ISO-NOPMC microse...

Direct-write assembly of microperiodic planar and spanning ITO microelectrodes.

Printed Sn-doped In(2)O(3) (ITO) microelectrodes are fabricated by direct-write assembly of sol-gel inks with varying concentration. This maskless, non-lithographic approach provides a facile route to patterning transparent conductive features in planar arrays and spanning architectures.

Measuring extracellular ion gradients from single channels with ion-selective microelectrodes.

Under many different conditions activated plasma membrane ion channels give rise to changes in the extracellular concentration of the permeant ion(s). The magnitude and duration of these changes are dependent on the electrochemical driving force(s) on the permeant ion(s) as well as conductance, open time, and channel density. We have modeled the change in the extracellular [K+] due to efflux th...

Microelectrode technique for in situ measurement of carbon dioxide concentrations in xylem sap of trees.

We developed a new microelectrode technique for measuring CO2 concentration ([CO2]) in xylem sap of trees. This technique enabled us to make rapid and continuous measurements of xylem sap [CO2] in situ. In this report, we discuss the methodology and establish the feasibility of the technique. We also describe calibration procedures, temperature sensitivity, field use and other characteristics o...

Chapter 1 Using microelectrodes

Microelectrodes are the basis of the techniques discussed in this book. They are used for: (1) potential recording; (2) current injection; (3) introduction into the cell of ionselective resins for measuring potential or determining the free concentration of cytosolic constituents. (1) and (2) are the procedures underlying conventional microelectrode recording, voltage-clamping and patch-clampin...
